Details for the Good Friday Brunch

It’s Good Friday this week and so we’re going to be having a Mosaic Brunch at the Offutt’s on Friday morning (10am - 12pm).

There’ll be two parts to the morning. The first half of the morning we’re going to have some prayers, Scriptures, and a couple of songs to help us focus on Jesus’ death and the significance of that. And at the end of that time they’ll be an opportunity for those that want to to take communion.

Following on from that it’ll be time to feast! Emily is co-ordinating who needs to bring what via the Facebook Event we’ve created, so please check what food or drink would be good for you to bring. It’d be helpful too if people RSVP.

If you need any more information, just let us know.

See you on Friday!

Mosaic, Besom, this Sunday and all things Lent..

We wanted to let people know what is happening this Sunday (4th March) and with lent.

We decided at our last gathering that it would be a good idea to do what we’ve done previously and for people to give something up (as well as take something up?) that will free up cash for us to put towards a Besom project or something we feel we should give to them as a community.

This Sunday we’ll be communicating the new series we’ll be starting (releasing our passions and dreams and discipling others) as well as communicating and discussing some changes coming up so it would be great for as many to be there as possible.

We’ll meet at the Radford’s at 4pm. It’ll be jacket potatoes and we’ll text about other things we need!

At our Ash Wednesday gathering we took time to reflect on our passions - something we care enough about to do even when it costs us but that others can be a part of and impacted by. We also prayed and listened for what we should focus on for Besom. As we reflected, 2 people felt washing machine (and/or fridge/white goods) and another, a single guy who has recently transitioned from something/somewhere - drug addiction, prison, the army… If you feel anything else let everyone know! For now we can plan that by the end of lent we will have more than enough as a community to get these for someone if there is a need. We can also finish Nina’s garden in the Spring! Ruth and Chris will be coordinating this. Thank you Simkins!

ACTIONS! 1) Is there something else you or we can offer Besom in terms of time, talents, money? 2) Is there something you can give up to free up cash to go towards our community fund for Besom? Are there others you can invite to join us in this? We have some friends who are going to do something to free up money for Mosaic and Besom which is great. It’s a good way for people to get involved somehow. 3) Some people are taking something up - reading through Cafe Theology, reading the Bible everyday, journalling, a new hobby/way of meeting others?

Hopefully see everyone on Sunday for what will be the start of an exciting lenten time and the rest of 2012!

This Sunday: What about the church?

This Sunday we’re going to be finishing off the ‘Alpha’ series that we’ve been doing. We’ll be wrapping things up by watching a video about the question, ‘What about the church’ and look at the various images we find in the Bible to describe what the church is.

We’ll be meeting at 4pm and Isaac and Natalie Randall’s. Contact us if you don’t know where to go.

Joseph Thompson visiting this weekend

Many of you will remember Joseph coming to visit last April. He’s a great friend of Mosaic and a real source of wisdom and inspiration for our community so we’re really pleased that he’s able to come back and spend some time for us.

He’ll be around from Friday 10th to Monday 13th February and we have several opportunities for people to connect with him whilst he’s around.

Saturday Night - time and venue TBC

On Saturday night the plan is simply to go out for a meal as a community with Joseph. It’d be really great if as many of us as possible could make this, so - for those of you who are parents - we’d really encourage you to try and find babysitters. And for everyone else, we’d just encourage you to make sure you keep it free / clear the diary!

We haven’t finalised all the details yet but we’ll send them round ASAP. If you could let us know if you’ll be around so we can plan numbers for booking the restaurant, that’d be a real help though.

Sunday Morning - 10am, venue TBC

On the Sunday morning we wanted to have brunch together and then invite Joseph to give a short talk and share something that he feels will be good for us to all hear. As always, there’ll be space for discussion and questions in response.

We don’t yet have a host arranged for the Sunday brunch, and it’d be great if someone could volunteer to host. Please let us know as soon as possible.

Saturday Daytime

So you’re all aware, Joseph will be spending the whole day on Saturday with the four of us on the leadership team helping us dream and plan for the future. We’re hoping this will be a significant and strategic time and we’d appreciate your prayers for that time. Also, if you have thoughts, comments or suggestions that you’d like on the table for that time together, please let us know.

Other opportunities

If you would like any one-on-one time with Joseph whilst he’s around, let us know and we can look to find an opportunity to make that happen.

Gathering at the Francis’s

Today’s (5th Feb) gathering is at Laura and Ollie’s. We’ll be meeting at 4pm as usual. They’re going to do a big pasta bake, but offers of garlic bread, salad, olives, breadsticks and dips are needed. Let Laura know if you’ll be around for planning amount of food.

This week we’ll be watching the last but one of the series of Alpha talks we’ve been going through. The subject is, ‘What about evil and does God heal today?’
